Behavioural and occupational therapy
Wave Support: behavioural and occupational therapy
Therapy that builds functional skills and removes the barriers getting in the way of taking part.

Behaviour is communication. Let's understand what it is telling us.
What brings families here
- “The meltdowns come out of nowhere and I cannot see the pattern.”
- “He wants to say something and cannot find the way to say it.”
- “Handwriting is a battle every single evening.”
What we work on
Areas Wave Support covers
Communication
Getting a want, a refusal or an idea across in a way that works.
Social skills
Reading a situation and joining in with it.
Independence and daily living
Dressing, eating, toileting, and the ordinary routines of a day.
Learning readiness
Sitting, attending and taking part, so teaching can land.
Emotional and behavioural regulation
Noticing the build-up and having something to do about it.
Positive behaviour support
Understanding the function behind a behaviour and teaching a better route to the same goal.
Fine and gross motor skills
Handwriting, coordination and the physical skills school assumes.
Sensory processing
Working out what a body needs to settle, and building that into the day.
School and home goals
The same targets carried across both settings, so progress is not left behind at the door.
How it works
Three steps, and you can stop after the first
Most families arrive worried they are about to be sold a package. Here is the whole process, so there are no surprises in it.
- 1
Talk to us
A free first conversation, in person or on the phone. You tell us what you are seeing. We tell you honestly whether we are the right people, and what we would look at first. Nothing is booked at this stage.
- 2
Assessment and plan
We look at the specific skills involved rather than the label. You get a written plan with goals we can measure, and you know what each session is for before it starts.
- 3
Sessions and visible progress
Work begins, with data tracked against those goals. You see the progress, you get the strategies to use at home, and the plan is reviewed as your child moves.

Evidence
The research behind our cognitive work
Brain Wave is a licensed BrainRx provider, and BrainRx has been tested in randomised controlled trials and measured across 27,790 clients. We publish the findings in full, including their limits. See what the research shows.

That is exactly what the first conversation is for. Tell us what you are seeing and we will tell you honestly where we would start, or whether another service fits better.
