Where minds grow stronger

Brain Wave is a multidisciplinary centre in Bahrain for cognitive skills training, behavioural and occupational therapy, academic support and inclusion programmes. We work with children, young people and adults, and with the schools and workplaces around them.

Ages two through adulthood. Every plan written for one person.

If you are here, something prompted it

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • “He knows it one day and it has gone the next.”
  • “Homework takes three hours and ends in tears.”
  • “She is bright, but school says she is not keeping up.”
  • “The meltdowns come out of nowhere.”
  • “He plays next to the other children, never with them.”
  • “We have a diagnosis. Nobody told us what to do next.”

You are not imagining it, and you are not the first parent to say it out loud. These are the things we work on every day. The first conversation costs nothing.

How it works

Three steps, and you can stop after the first

Most families arrive worried they are about to be sold a package. Here is the whole process, so there are no surprises in it.

  1. 1

    Talk to us

A free first conversation, in person or on the phone. You tell us what you are seeing. We tell you honestly whether we are the right people, and what we would look at first. Nothing is booked at this stage.

  2. 2

    Assessment and plan

We look at the specific skills involved rather than the label. You get a written plan with goals we can measure, and you know what each session is for before it starts.

  3. 3

    Sessions and visible progress

Work begins, with data tracked against those goals. You see the progress, you get the strategies to use at home, and the plan is reviewed as your child moves.

Why Brain Wave

How we work

Multidisciplinary team

Specialists across cognition, behaviour and occupational therapy plan together on the same case, so you are not the one carrying messages between professionals.

Family centred

Families are part of the plan, so progress carries on between sessions instead of stopping at the door.

Evidence based

Programmes are grounded in research and tracked with data, so progress is measured rather than assumed.

Real-life application

We target skills that transfer to school, work, home and the community.

Lifespan support

From age two through to adulthood, with continuity as needs change.

Individualised plans

Every programme is built around one person's profile, strengths and goals.

Who you will be dealing with

Fawzieh Kiwan

She founded Brain Wave to bring the cognitive, behavioural, academic and community sides of support under one roof, so families stop having to carry messages between separate professionals.

Breaking Boundaries

Inclusion shouldn't stop at the therapy centre

Most of a neurodivergent person's life happens outside a therapy room. Our wider initiative trains the places they actually go, so progress does not run into a wall the moment they leave us.

Inclusive community services

Training for gyms, sports clubs, barbers, activity centres and the other services people use every week.

Inclusive workplaces

Workshops that help organisations understand neurodiversity and build workplaces people can actually work in.

In the press

“Children don't only learn through therapy or in the classroom. They learn through play, shared experiences, laughter and meaningful time with the people they love.”

Brain Wave was officially opened by the Minister of Industry and Commerce.

Straight answers

Questions parents ask first

Do we need a diagnosis before we start?

No. A diagnosis is useful information, but it is not a requirement and it is not what we build the plan from. We work from the specific skills a person is finding difficult, which is the same starting point whether a diagnosis exists, is in progress, or was never sought.

What ages do you work with?

From age two through to adulthood. Support does not stop at eighteen, and several of our programmes are built for young adults moving into work and independent living.

What happens at the first consultation?

You talk, we listen, and we ask questions about what you are seeing at home and at school. There is no cost and no obligation to book anything afterwards. If we are not the right service for your child, we will say so and point you somewhere better.

How long before we see progress?

It depends on the goals and how often sessions run, so anyone promising you a number before meeting your child is guessing. What we do commit to is that goals are written down and measured, so you can see movement rather than take our word for it.

Do you work with our school?

Yes. We provide shadow support in class, work directly with teachers on classroom strategy, and run training for school staff. Where a child is with us and at school, we aim for the same goals in both settings.

How much does it cost?

Fees depend on which programme is involved and how often sessions run, so we go through it properly at the first consultation rather than quoting a figure that turns out not to apply to you.

Do you only work with autistic children?

No. We support neurodivergent children and adults, learners with academic or behavioural difficulties, and children who are not neurodivergent at all but need support in a particular area. We also work with schools and organisations.

Where are you based?

Salmaniya Pearl Building (Above Al-Hawaj), Office 31, Building 280, Road 5616, Block 356, Salmaniya, Manama.
